Bill “Praz” Paraszczuk, 71, of Valley Stream, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2026, surrounded by his family. A devoted father, husband, and friend, he lived a life marked by quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering love for those around him. He was a man who loved deeply, laughed easily, and gave more of himself than he ever asked in return.

Born to John and Julia Paraszczuk on September 26th, 1954, Bill grew up in Mineola, New York. He graduated from Mineola High School, Class of 1972. He attended Nassau Community College, where he met his wife and the love of his life, Ann Marie, during a serendipitous meeting in the Rod and Gun Club. He later continued his studies at SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Old Westbury before beginning his career with Newsday in circulation and distribution. Bill remained with Newsday for his entire career, dedicating 45 years to the company before retiring in September 2023.

Bill was an avid reader, a loyal New York sports fan, and a true outdoorsman. He cherished the time he spent at the family’s house in Upstate New York. Whether hunting, fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the quiet of the woods, Bill could always be found in the Catskills. As a diehard Jets and Mets fan, he treated fall Sundays as sacred, and in the summer he was happiest in the yard, listening to the Mets on his radio, dunking in the pool, and playing fetch with Chance, Roscoe or Champy, his beloved black labs.

Above all, Bill loved his family. He valued every moment spent with them and treasured holidays, birthday celebrations, and cheering on his loved ones at sports events. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 45 years, Ann Marie (Matarazzo); his children, Nicole Paraszczuk and her husband Mike Lull, Joe Paraszczuk and his fiancée Nicole Malen, and Billy Paraszczuk and his wife Morgan; his brother, Jeff Paraszczuk; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will forever feel the impact of his presence.
