Saverio Giammarusco

Saverio Giammarusco, born on July 28, 1928, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, in Valley Stream, New York, at the age of 97. His long and full life was marked by deep devotion to his family and a legacy that spans generations.

Saverio was the beloved husband of the late Anna Giammarusco. Together, they built a strong and loving family whose bonds remain a testament to their enduring partnership.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Antonietta Quaresima (Peter) of Hampton Bays, NY; Giulia Purpura (Ricardo) of Elmont, NY; Domenick Giammarusco (Lori) of Seaford, NY and Vito Giammarusco (Lisa) of Seaford, NY. Saverio took great pride in his role as a father.

His legacy continues through his cherished 9 grandchildren: Jessica Hamill; Peter J. Quaresima; Guy Purpura; Victoria Pilla; Michael Giammarusco; Stephen Giammarusco; Joseph Giammarusco; Marissa Giammarusco; and Jenna Giammarusco. Each of them carries forward a part of Saverio’s spirit in their own lives.

Saverio was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Madison Hamill, Emma Hamill, Jack Hamill, Nicholas Pilla, Daniela Pilla, Caroline Purpura, Anthony Purpura, Ryan Giammarusco, Ava Giammarusco—and one more baby girl soon to be welcomed into the world making the total 10.

Throughout his life, Saverio remained a steady presence for those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
