Salvatore Traina, 79, was a great man who was loved by many. He was a father-figure to many and an amazing father to his children. He worked hard all his life to fulfill his mother’s legacy at his shop, Doris Fashions, which he owned and managed for more than 50 years. Sal had a great sense of humor and zest for life. He loved being social, enjoying food, and enjoying life experiences. He was also wonderfully unique: who else could say that their father was the president of a motorcycle club, had a pet monkey, had an afro, AND went to Woodstock? He got a kick out of playing pranks and being what we referred to as the “Mayor of 18th Avenue.” He enjoyed camping and long-distance motorcycle rides that usually ended with a huge meal.
In his later years, he enjoyed retirement and visiting the senior center to be surrounded by the friends he made there. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were his favorite. He loved going to the local diner with his children to eat muffins. Sal loved action movies, tv series about crime scene investigations, and audiobooks about making money. He enjoyed bird watching and going to the park. He was happiest when he was spending time with family.
Salvatore Traina is survived by his wife, Lillian Traina, and his children, Melissa and Michael Traina. He always had a special place in his heart for his sisters, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephew, and their children. He will be missed by all. We will always carry his memory and our love for him in our hearts.
