It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Rose Marie Vega
(AKA: Rosita) who peacefully left this world on 9/27/23 at the remarkable age of 95. She was surrounded by her loving family, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons she imparted upon them.
She was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, and the last of 9 siblings that preceded her in death. Rosita lived a life filled with love, strength, and unwavering determination. Her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Rosita was married and divorced Antonio Rodriquez, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a strong foundation of love for over 20 years. She was a loving mother to three children: Franklin, Evelyn & Carmen who were her pride and joy. Franklin’s untimely death disrupted all in the family including his surviving wife and 3 children.
As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Rosita showered her family with affection and created countless cherished memories. Her legacy of love and devotion will forever live through her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Rosita was a God-fearing woman who prayed most of her life for those who were dear to her every day. She for many years worked out of the home and was a good hard worker at what she did. Her last job was airport security. Her short stature was not hinderance in getting the job done. Rosita found time to indulge in other ventures. She was a woman of many talents and interests including cooking, jewelry making, designing, and tailoring clothes and costumes for her daughters’ and herself. She opened her own shoe and purse store in the Bronx, New York at one time. Her zest for life and love for music and dance inspired those around her to embrace every moment and find joy in the simplest of things.
She was known for her generosity, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Her impact on the lives she touched will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though we mourn the loss of our beloved matriarch, we find solace in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. Her spirit will forever live on in our hearts, and her legacy will continue to inspire us to live with love, kindness, and resilience.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time. Your love and prayers have provided comfort and strength to our family.
May Rose Marie Vega (Rosita) soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
