Rosario Martinada Capistrano, 75 years old, of Inwood, New York passed away on September 4, 2024 after battling with End Stage Renal Disease on Hemodialysis x 15 years.
Rosario, known as Nanay Rosie, or Rose, was born on 13th of January, 1949 in Burauen, Leyte, Philippines to Generoso Sr. and Gregoria. She graduated from Elementary from their province and venture at age of 13 in Manila to work due to poverty. She landed a job as a market vendor in Paco Market where she met Pepito and eloped with him at the age of 19 and they went on to get married and have 5 children, Elizabeth, Lolita, Ricardo, Rommel and Matthew.
Rosie, though lacking higher level of education is wise, hardworking and resilient. Having five children and not earning much, it was indeed a hardship that she and her husband has to be in the market from dawn to late night just to earn a living and sustain their children. They worked themselves out so they can send their children to school and to have a college degree. She and her husband instilling that the only valuable possession they have is education that they can provide to their children no matter what. True indeed, though with little money, all her children finished college. Her eldest was able to work in US and petitioned her and her husband to live with her. Never in her wildest dream that she will be able to go to US so as her husband. But indeed, through prayers, she had accomplished what she all had prayed for. She then petition her second child, Lolita and the youngest, Matthew. Although already been in dialysis 3 months after she had arrived in US, she hold on to battle that disease till she is sure that her petition went through. Indeed, her youngest and 3 of his children were approved and they arrived in NY last November 2023 which became her joy. With much resilience in prayer and holding on to her faith, she had experienced God’s love and favor and came to really experience God’s comfort and love in spite of her condition. She had hold on for 15 years with the disease that at times won’t let a human live beyond 5 - 10 years. She had endured, fighting the good fight of faith and been victorious.
Her death may mean an end to her worldly self but indeed a start of her true fellowship with her Creator.
Rosario was survived by her five children, 9 grandchildren and 2 grand, grandchildren and 1 brother out of 13 siblings.
A funeral viewing will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 4pm to 8pm at 266 North Central Ave, Valley Stream, NY 11580.
