Ronald “Ronnie” Mezzanotte, 78, of Valley Stream passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025 with his only son, Christian at his bedside. Over the past 5-6 years, Chris had been working 24/7 as his full-time caregiver while watching from the front-line as he suffered from the degenerative effects of Dementia from Alzheimer’s Disease. Ronnie will always be remembered as a very hard working man, working long hard hours as a truck driver for Leonetti Bros. and later Lite Moving & Sons.
Drafted at 18, he was a Viet Nam war veteran, serving our country as an Army Driver on an Air Force base while stationed in Thailand, where he would eventually be exposed to Agent Orange; the cause to a number of his leading ailments.
Ronnie loved woodworking with a passion and lifting weights in his free time. After the untimely passing of his wife Janet, he had his mother Julia step in to help raise Chris as a single parent. Over the years to follow, they became best friends. Enjoying everything together: arcades, action parks, WWF wrestling events, monster trucks, baseball & hockey games, He even bought a regulation size pool table to shoot pool like a shark at home, bank shots and all! Ronnie fell in love with craft beer, enjoying numerous cold ones and visiting breweries with his son! A fan of the Jets, he never celebrated many wins, but he did trade jokes with every fumble! For those that knew him, Ronnie’s kindness & sense of humor will be missed by all.
