Ronald Carl Hagenah was born on May 17, 1959 to his parents Ronald and June Hagenah in Queens, NY. He resided in Valley Stream, Long Island in the home that he grew up in.
Ronald was better known as “Ron” or “Ronnie” by his family and friends.
He received his formal education from Valley Stream Elementary School District 13 also known as Howell Road Elementary School. He then went onto Valley Stream North High School where he graduated in 1977 with a Regents Diploma. Ronald went on to study Accounting at Adelphi University. In his early twenties, Ronnie started working as Assistant Head Custodian at Valley Stream North High School. Ronnie then worked at Valley Stream South High School as well as Valley Stream Central High School where he ultimately retired from. He also worked doing inventory through a company called RGIS (Retail Grocery Inventory Service).
Ronnie was known for his love of basketball as he played in HS wearing #23 jersey. He loved watching the Game Show Network (GSN), watching Jeopardy and never missed a beat when it came to watching and beating on the horses. He went annually to Saratoga, went to Belmont and/or Aqueduct depending on the season. Ronnie started his love for horses at Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury where his grandmother lived. He would have Thanksgiving dinner and then go to bet on the races. He also enjoyed betting on the horses at Yonkers Raceway and Meadowlands Racetrack.
Ronald met his wife, Susan in 1993 and then later wed in September of 1995. Ronald provided fatherly support to Susan’s children, Adam Rubenstein and Bonnie Ocasio.
Ronald Carl Hagenah said his goodbye on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Ronald left behind his wife, Susan, his step-children, Adam and Bonnie, brother, Richard, his nephew, Richard and niece, Nicole and his grandchildren, Esteban, Alexander, Amina, Jacqueline, Isabella, Adrianna, Kayden and Abigail. He loved his grandchildren immensely. Ronnie left behind his friends who he cared for dearly.
