Rodolfo Colon

Rodolfo Colón (Rudy) was born on March 16, 1937 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico to Manolo Colón and Filomena Ramos. His siblings: Blanca, Flor María, Elsa, Wilfredo and Dalia. A man of humble beginnings, and limited education, Rudy was honest, hard-working, kind, and generous, giving of his talents and abilities in whichever way he could.

He left Puerto Rico at the age of 20 and took on all kinds of jobs in New York, eventually establishing a landscaping business which still flourishes to this day. He married Marina (Mary) in 1976. They were married for 47 years and raised 4 children.

Rudy loved music and was often heard singing “lelolelolai” to the tunes on the radio. He loved unconditionally, (even loved his Mets - despite their many losses).

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity, as many have been fed from his table. He
loved to cook and taught not only Mary to cook, but greatly influenced his children and daughters-in-laws. Never a man to complain - even to the very end. He took on everything that came his way with determination, character and a smile, always a smile.Rudy is pre-deceased by his father, Manolo, and his mother, Filomena, his brother, Wilfredo, his sisters, Blanca and Flor Maria, his brother-in-law, Cando and Felin, and his nephew, Candito.

He is survived by his sisters, Dalia and Elsa; by his wife, Marina; by his children, Rudy Jr. (married to Janet), Orlando married to Elba, Willy (married to Jenny), Geovanni, Sandra, (married to Peter), Rosemarie (married to Patrick), Steven (married to Claudia), and Vilma; by his grandchildren, Rudy III, Yanick, Stephanie, Steven, Jelian, Samantha, Christina, Malachi, Lian, Matthew, Cassidy, Jordan, Lukas, Caleb, Levi, Amara, JT, Rebekkah, Ethan, Ava, and by his great grandchildren, Roman, Kennedi, Elias, Easton, Nazir, Eliana, Eli, and Ellie.
