Robert B. Rizzi (Bob) was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He died as he lived, peacefully, on August 15, 2023 at the age of 82. He lived for many years in Valley Stream with his twin sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Riccardo Bazzoli. Bob had an accomplished career as a language arts educator—teaching Spanish and Italian at Massapequa High School for 30 years. Post retirement from Massapequa High School he became a professor at Hofstra University teaching Spanish for an additional 10years.
Not only was Bob a devoted and beloved teacher, he was an important mentor to many students, positively influencing their lives throughout the years. He stayed in contact with students and faculty long after his retirement. Bob was a joyful role model to members of his large Northern Italian (Tyrolean) family, and was Godfather to a number of cousins and friends. He had a quick sense of humor and anyone around him spent their time learning and laughing. Bob’s mantra was “not to worry” and he lived his life just that way.
Bob is survived by his twin sister, Gloria, with whom he had an enormous attachment. His brother-in-law, Riccardo, completed their wonderful Trio and lived together under the same roof…a home filled with music, laughter, love and food for family and friends for many years.
As we celebrate Bob, in the fashion he would want…we will rejoice in the memories, laughter shared, focus on the present and we will not worry.
