It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Simone. He was a loving husband, devoted father and very proud grandfather. Richard passed away on December 18th at the age of 81. He was born in Queens on December 22, 1942 to Leonard and Marieanna Simone and was one of six children. After moving to Long Island with his loving wife, Marina, he became a longtime resident of Valley Stream.
Richard (aka Richie) was a master in the kitchen. He was the Head Chef of the Schooner Restaurant in Freeport for 30+ years. It was said the he made the best lobster bisque. One of Richie’s signature dishes was his shrimp scampi, which he prepared every Christmas Eve for family and friends. He served in the US Army where he was a paratrooper.
He was known for his kind heart and strong work ethic. When it came to music he loved the oldies. He was a NY Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers (turned Yankees) fan.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request our family and friends make a donation to Tunnels To Towers Foundation or Wounded Warriors Project.
