Norman Edward Henry was born the youngest of five boys in Guilford, VT on August 10,1931 to Frank E. Henry, Sr. and Jennie Phetteplace Henry. Norman grew up in Guilford and attended local schools.
Norman met the love of his life, Elizabeth Hoerlein, and moved to New York to be with her. They married on April 21, 1956, in Valley Stream, NY. Norman worked in general contracting for his entire life. He was a project manager for many large projects at JFK Airport and New York University. He started his own contracting firm in 1977 and worked on projects large and small well into his 70’s. Norman always loved to spend time in Guilford, VT and eventually built a second home there so he could spend time in the Vermont countryside with his family. His greatest pleasure was to bring friends and family to Guildford.
Norman’s interests included reading, fixing anything, and his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Norman is survived by daughter Katherine G. Henry of Valley Stream, daughter Susan Henry Higgins (Glenn) of Sleepy Hollow, son Gregg T. Henry of New York and daughter Lisa A. Henry Paris (Donald) of Centerport; six grandchildren: Kate (Tom) of Phoenix AZ, Ryan and Cassidy of Sleepy Hollow, Christina of Northport, Jonathan and Samantha of Centerport, NY; and one great granddaughter Olivia.
Norman was predeceased by brothers, Byron, Raymond, Hank and Dwight.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s memory may be made to the Nassau County SPCA.
