Marylou Kral was born Marylou Scott, second child, eldest surviving child, and only daughter of George R. and Lillian M. Scott, on April 29, 1933, in Jamaica Hospital. She had two younger brothers, George, who survives her, and John, who predeceased her in 2010.
She was a long-time member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Laurelton, NY, where she met and later married her husband, George C. Kral, in 1956. Marylou and George lived in Rosedale, NY where they raised their four children: Douglas, Richard, Keith, and Karen.
The family attended Christ Lutheran Church in Rosedale, where she was active in the Lutheran Church Women (LCW) and the Altar Guild.
In 1980, her husband George died, leaving the family emotionally devastated. Marylou, with her strength of character and force of will, held the family together to ride out the storm that life had just thrown at them.
She took an interest in the Rosedale community, volunteering as a dispatcher and serving on the board of the Rosedale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She also joined AARP and became the membership chairperson of her local chapter.
She like working in her garden, pulling the weeds, and planting as large a variety of flowers as she could. She also loved knitting and crocheting, making things that she would give to people she loved or send to charity to help the less fortunate.
She died on May 5, 2025, in the home she had lived in for almost 69 years, attended by her aide and her eldest son, Douglas.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas J. Kral, Richard G. Kral, and Keith W. Kral, her daughter, Karen L. Bradshaw, her son-in-law, William A. Bradshaw, her daughters-in-law, Linda A. Kral and Loidz Kral, her grandchildren, Danielle M. Kral, Matthew G. Kral, Eldrinne Alcaraz, John Lloyd Alcaraz, Eloiza Alcaraz, and John Jerrick Alcaraz, her brother George W. Scott, her cousin, Lynn A. Werth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
