Marianne Farella Obituary

Marianne Farella was a devoted wife of 63 years to her husband Frank. A loving mother,
Marianne raised four children and always opened her doors to her children’s friends, providing them
with a home away from home. Marianne spent many hours volunteering leading precana groups,
helping the elderly and homebound, and participating in bereavement ministry. Marianne and Frank
loved attending the opera and took many trips together which they loved to reminisce about.
Marianne’s heart was her family and faithfully carried on her husband’s family tradition of hosting an
annual feast for family and friends. She was always looking for ways to uplift others. After devoting her
life to her children, she challenged herself to return to college and earned a degree in social work from
Molloy College and, at age 60, a master’s degree from Fordham University. She went on to help
countless people advocate for themselves as the Director of St. Gregory’s Community Service Center. In
her, they found a compassionate and dedicated counselor. The highlight of Marianne’s life was her 14
grandchildren. Each one had a special place in her heart and she made sure she was present for all their
special days and all the ordinary ones as well. A hands-on grandmother, she baked with her
grandchildren, made arts and crafts, and passed on many Italian traditions that they will cherish always.
Grandma, as she was known, was a wonderful cook and many memories were made with her family
around her dining room table. She will be remembered for her strong faith, kind heart, and the love she
bestowed on all those who were blessed enough to know her.
