Marcelo Williams Obituary

 

Marcelo Vladamir Williams was born July 31st, 1966  to Laret Williams-Sapin and Cecilio Williams in Siquirres, Costa Rica. He passed away on June 11th 2026, at the age of 59.

Marcelo was an exceptionally intelligent person, whose passion for understanding how the world worked shaped much of his life. He was endlessly curious, and always eager to share his knowledge with others. He was an avid reader, and found much happiness in woodworking, carefully crafting pieces with patience and skill. Whether building with his hands, sharing ideas, or discussing life's mysteries, Marcelo approached everything with enthusiasm.

Marcelo joined the Army when he was 18, where he trained in special ops and proudly protected and served our country for approx. six years, including during Operation Desert Storm. He often praised the values instilled in him during his military service.

Marcelo's roots shaped the person he became and inspired his lifelong love of food, family, and gathering with those he cherished. He believed some of life's greatest moments were shared around a table, enjoying a meal and meaningful conversation.

Marcelo is survived by his mother, Laret Williams-Sapin; his daughters, Sophia, Samara, Secilia, and their mother, Kristina; and by his son Ruok’tain. He is also survived by his sisters, Stace and Noret; his beloved aunt Edna; his brothers-in-law and friends, Flemming and Derik; and his eight nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, June 22nd at 10:00 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 195 Pine Street, Freeport, NY 11520. Following this service, the Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery. Immediately following, family and friends are invited to gather for a repast meal on Monday, June 22nd at Sunflower Café , 825 Montauk Hwy, Bayport, NY 11705
