Lucienne Germain

   Lucienne Germain, 92, of Dondon, Haiti, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2025. She was and will always be surrounded by the immense love of her family.

   Born on May 3, 1933, in Dondon, she was the beloved daughter of Euriclée Michel and Labanet Germain and the cherished fraternal twin sister of Madeleine Luce Germain. Lucienne was dedicated at Eglise Evangélique Baptiste de Dondon and became apart of the church community at a very early age. She became an active member of the church, singing as an alto in the choir under the direction of maestro Lefever Menard, where she was revered for her angelic voice.

   She completed her primary and high school education at College Pratique du Nord in Cap-Haitien, known as Chez Edith Robinson, and at Lycée Dumarsais Estimé in Hinche, respectively. Having been interested in health care, she attended the Poté Cole health school to become an auxiliaire hygiéniste in Dondon. At age 29 she gave birth to her daughter, Martine Phanor, and later joined her in New York to be with her.

   Affectionately known to her family and friends as “Man Cienne” she was cherished for her warmth, strength, and deep devotion to those she loved. Man Cienne’s love for the young was very apparent through the numerous children that she baby sat throughout the years, many of which became family. Throughout her life, Man Cienne exemplified grace, resilience, and unwavering faith. She was a cornerstone of her family and community — offering guidance, compassion, and a welcoming presence to all who crossed her path. Whether through her words of wisdom or simple acts of kindness, she left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Man cienne’s legacy lives on through the generations of family who adored her and will continue to honor her memory. Her life was a testament to love, humility, and endurance. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Man Cienne is survived by her daughter Martine Jean, her grandchildren: Dr. Fabienne Jean and Thierry Jean, her son-in-law: Carlo Jean, sister: Dr. Jeaninne Narcisse, sister in laws: Ania Célestin, Moviette Appolon, Marie Claudia Germain, brothers: Castel Célestin, Renan Germain, Mocler Germain, Clovis “Babi” Germain, nieces and nephews: Fabiola Narcisse, Arave “Pépine” Houanche, Ralph Houanche, Anna Valerie Houanche, Dr. Pinchella “Shilouse” Nemorin, Christolin Nemorin, Imogene Nemorin, Gaëlle Célestin, Muriel Célestin, Natalie Germain, Philippe Célestin, Hantz Geraldy Germain, Nandie Germain, Chelsey Germain, Ephèse Germain, Monan Germain, Benji Germain, and all of the Michel cousins, including Fleurette Francisque, Carmite Lewis, Philppe Michel, Roberte Michel, Emmanuela Michel, Jean-Claude Pierre and all of his children.
