Lillian Figueroa Obituary

Lillian Camacho Figueroa, lovingly known as Lilly, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026. She was 79 years old.

Born on January 21, 1947, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, to Francisco Camacho and Zoraida Galarza, Lilly spent her early childhood in New York, where she lived with her father and her brother, Edgar. Later in life, she welcomed a baby sister, Lydia Torres. All siblings and her parents have since passed on, and she now joins them in eternal rest.

Lilly built a beautiful life with her husband, Edwin Figueroa, who predeceased her in 2003. Together they raised four children in Brooklyn before moving to Valley Stream, NY, in 1993. In 2024, Lilly relocated to Apalachin, NY — a place she quickly embraced and lovingly called home until her passing.

She is survived by her children:
• Elizabeth (husband Juan)
• Edwin (wife Marcy)
• Evelyn (husband Veron)
• Jennifer (husband Shawn)

Lilly was the proud grandmother of nineteen grandchildren: Kayla (husband Kevin), Andrea (husband Mike), Christopher (wife Courtney), Marc, Daniel, Emilee, Lynnea, Alexi, Adam, Andrew, Alex, Elianna, Natalie, Shyanne, Liam, Gia, Aidan, Elias, and Gabriel. She also leaves behind two great‑grandchildren, Autumn Rose and Autumn Grace, with another precious great‑grandchild expected in October 2026.

A lifelong learner with unstoppable determination, Lilly returned to school in her 30s to earn her master’s degree in education. She went on to serve in several teaching and administrative roles within the Queens school district, touching countless lives with her compassion, patience, and belief in the power of education.

Lilly embraced life with joy and movement. She loved yoga, Zumba, and anything that kept her active. Her adventurous spirit carried her across the United States and around the world — to Spain, Greece, Australia, China, Japan, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Italy, and many more destinations that enriched her life with culture and wonder.

But above all, family was her greatest love. Lilly never missed a birthday, a graduation, or a milestone. She traveled from home to home, making sure every family member felt seen, celebrated, and cherished. Her presence was a gift; her kindness, a constant; her love, unwavering.

Lilly will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and the gentle way she made everyone feel special. Her favorite phrase — “love forever and always” — is the legacy she leaves in the hearts of all who knew her.
