Karin Longo Obituary

Karin Ann Longo, 75, of Malverne, has gained her wings on October 17, 2023. Karin was born on August 10,1948 to Claire and James Carenza. She was born and raised in Howard Beach with her younger brother, James R. Carenza. Karin was raised in a loving family.

Karin was extremely family oriented. Both her and her brother grew up close. At the age of 21, Karin became a mother to AnnMarie Cohen, and helped raise her niece Brenda Heeralall and stepson James Cullen. At the young age of 42, she became a proud grandmother and help care for her granddaughter Christina Moran. This encouraged her to make a living of daytime babysitter for working parents. She believed family always had to stick together no matter what. No matter if it was a Saturday beach day, birthday, or hosting holidays like Christmas Eve, Karin always made sure all of the family spent all occasions together. Friends weren’t excluded. She loved to do it all from decorating to the nines to cooking all day to make the perfect dinner. Her house was always filled with lots of love and laughter of people. Karin was the rock of her family. She always gave words of wisdom when it was needed the most, mediated fights and was able to maintain order like a true matriarch.

At the beautiful age of 51, Karin met the love of her life, Chris Longo. After a year, Karin and Chris married privately with the blessings of her belated mother. They enjoyed all the beauties of life. She gained 3 daughters, Liz, Anne, Christine. As well as 9 grandchildren, Nina, Sarah, Sophie, Bailey, Robbie, Chris, Michael, Brett, and Steven. Even as her family grew substantially, Karin remained the head of her family. Karin always went above and beyond for her loved ones. Her specialty was doting and listening. Karin doted over everyone, especially her husband Chris. She’s the best at advocating for those in need. When Chris was sick, she took charge and made sure he was getting the care and support he needed. There were no limits to her selflessness.

Even in sickness, there was no dimming the light she exerted. Up to the very end, Karin showed incredible strength. Super woman has nothing on Karin. Karin was so strong and her faith has never wavered. Her resilience and love prevailed through her pain and sickness. Karin was a light that was in all who surrounded her. Her lifetime has been filled with so much joy from family and all of her friends she has made along the years. She’s survived by her husband Chris Longo. Daughter, AnnMarie. Stepson, James Cullen’s family, Tina, Jesse, Jacquline, and Amelia. Stepdaughters; Liz, Anne. Grandchildren; Christina, Mauricio, Nina, Sarah, Sophie, Bailey, Robbie, Chris, Michael, Brett, and Steven. Nieces; Brenda, Donna. Nephews; JC, Suresh. Brother James Carenza, Sister-in-law; Janet Carenza. Karin was welcomed into Heaven by her Father, James Carenza, Mother, Claire Carenza and her stepdaughter Christine Carpenteri, amongst her grandparents and other relatives. We ask that you pray for her and her family.
