Ernest Estevez passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January, 24, 2023 at 61 years old after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marianne Estevez, his daughters Tiffany Marie Almonte, Kaitlinn Rose Hickey, and Jessica Lynn Estevez, son-in-laws Anthony Almonte and William Hickey, and his grandchildren Briana Almonte, Cayden Eli Almonte and Finn Rainer Hickey.
Ernie was born March 29, 1961 to the late Aurea and Ernesto Estevez. He grew up in Bayside, Queens with his sisters Lillian Lupowitz, Mildred Lennett, Maritza Brigante, and Nancy Guttilla. He attended Queens Community College, and had a distinguished career in Printed Circuit Board Design.
He met his wife, Marianne, while working together at Sperry. They got married on December 7, 1986 in Stony Brook, NY. They bought their first home in Valley Stream in 1998 where his wife and family still reside today. Ernie opened his home to all, and was known for making their home a safe haven for all who needed a place to stay.
Ernie was a devoted man of the Christian faith, and spent over 30 years dedicated to his local church as a volunteer and usher. He was a respected leader in the church community, participating in events, bible studies, and Sunday services. He is remembered for his deep love for Jesus Christ.
An avid dog lover, Ernie also leaves behind their 4-year-old labrador whippet mix, Daisy. He's greeted by Nicki, Jenna, Shadow, and Rusty over the rainbow bridge. He loved spending time with his dogs over the years, referring to them tenderly as his "four-legged daughters".
