Dothlyn Adina (Harding) Ramsay passed away on June 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Westmoreland on the island of Jamaica, Dothlyn studied nursing at Kingston School of Nursing-Midwifery and child care and development at the College of Arts Science and Technology. She began her nursing career as a registered nurse and midwife at the renowned Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston. She was often called upon to train OB-GYN residents in operating room techniques. There was a time in Jamaica when teenage pregnancy was prevalent, Dothlyn, who had a lifelong interest in the plight of young women from underprivileged communities, provided patient care and education to young adults at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital’s family planning clinic. Dothlyn moved to New York in the 1980s and continued her long nursing career in the labor and delivery department of various New York City hospitals. She was a highly regarded and skilled professional. She ended her distinguished career at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City after decades of service.
Dothlyn is survived by her husband, Sylvester, their children Audrey (Epe), Rhona (Pierre) Jillian (Everton), Janelle and stepdaughter, Carol. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kimberly, Samantha, Gabrielle, Rebecca and Zachary; her beloved sister Joyce, cousin Lynn and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life, will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 9:00 am at the Edward F. Lieber Funeral Home in Valley Stream, New York followed by interment at the Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale.
