Deborah Lee Leahy, 67, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Cancer at her home on January 27, 2026 surrounded by family. Deborah was born on December 9th, 1958. She raised her family and worked most of her life in Valley Stream becoming a staple in the town. She leaves behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and deep devotion to those she held dear.
Deborah was a woman defined by her compassion and steadiness. She had a gentle presence that made others feel safe, heard and cared for, and she gave herself freely to family and friends. Her kindness was not loud or showy, but constant and sincere –most strongly felt by those fortunate enough to truly know her. She was a rock for so many, having overcome many tough times in her own life.
Family was at the center of Deborah’s life. She took great pride in caring for others and found meaning in the everyday moments that make a life full: shared conversations, simple traditions, and time spent together. She is survived by her beloved husband Timothy; her four children, son Nicholas and daughter in law Patty, daughter Christine, daughter Erin and son in law Cody and son Brian and daughter in law Ariella; and her seven grandchildren, Joseph, Bryan, Emily, Briella, Siobhan, Ava and Rowan, who brought her immense joy and pride. She was an amazing sister, aunt and friend.
Deborah had a remarkable love of life and her strength and resilience was one to admire. Her smile was contagious and she always had a way of making anyone laugh. She was an amazing cook who enjoyed sharing those meals with family and friends.
Deborah’s family is extremely thankful for all of the love and support they have received. Her family will be eternally grateful for her nurses and doctors at the Cancer institute at St. Francis hospital.
Deborah will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the countless quiet ways she made the world a better place.
