Daniel Soto Obituary

Daniel Soto was born on April 2, 1937, in Sabana Buey, Bani, Republica Dominicana to Elpidio & Elvira Soto. He came to live to the United States in the 1960's where he made Brooklyn his home. He entered into eternal rest on February 19, 2025, in Valley Stream, New York.

Daniel was employed at several clothing factories before landing a job with a welding company until his retirement in 2005. Following his retirement he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida with his wife, July. He managed to live retirement pretty much how he lived his life, modestly and on his own terms. Unfortunately, due to health issues Daniel and July moved back to New York in December of 2020, where he lived with his daughter, Marilyn and his son-in-law, Melvin in Malverne, New York.  Despite battling health issues, God made it possible for him to spend his final years near his family where he enjoyed family time with his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, & great grandchildren.  Daniel was retired for 20 years and did exactly what he wanted with his time.

All who knew him will agree that Daniel wasn’t a man of many words. He was reserved and quiet, but in his own way made sure that those he loved knew that he loved them. Daniel loved music and had quite a collection of LP records. Fernandito Villanova, Johnny Ventura, Wilfrido Vargas, Millie y Jocelyn, Julio Iglesias, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole to name a few of many.  Daniel was a baseball fanatic and a die-hard Yankee fan.  No other baseball team was worthy of his praise. Those baseball games were always on without fail, from the beginning of the season to the very end. He wore two types of hats. A fedora hat for special occasions and that good ole Yankee cap which he wore on a daily basis. Daniel was also a pretty good cook & enjoyed making moro de habichuelas rojas (rice with red beans), carne de cerdo frita (chicharron) and maduros (fried sweet plantains).  He also enjoyed doing word find games, downloading music & playing several different games on his IPad.  He loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who stole his heart. His beaming smile said it all when he would receive a FaceTime call, especially from his  4 year old great grandson Jru.

God blessed him with 87 years of life on earth but as of this coming April and beyond he will celebrate his birthdays up in Heaven alongside loved ones and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rosa (July); his daughters, Janet, Rosi, Jacqueline, and Marilyn; his sons-in-law, Shawn, David, and Melvin; his grandchildren, Chris, Julissa, Ashley, Emmanuel, Elijah, Kiara, and Madison; his great-grandchildren, Jru & Nola; his furry grandchildren, Chester & Blue; his furry great grandchild Lucky; other relatives and dear friends.

Daniel leaves a huge void in our hearts, but we are comforted in knowing that he left us gracefully & peacefully.  He will forever live in all our HEARTS.
