Conrad Habermann Obituary

Conrad Leonard Habermann
Born December 26, 1929
Died August 6, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Conrad L Habermann announces his passing after a brief illness, on Monday, August 6th, 2018 at the age of 88 years old.
Conrad will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Janet, and his children, Conrad (Loreen), Karen (Billy), Jimmy, and Joyce. Conrad will also be fondly remembered by his 9 Grandchildren and their spouses, and his 12 Great Grandchildren.
A native of Rosedale, Queens, Conrad attended Andrew Jackson High School and was a member of the United States Army.
He fought in the Korean War and was a proud Veteran his whole adult life. While hanging around with his friend Harold,
Conrad met the love of his life, Janet. Their eyes met and it was love at first sight. They were inseparable ever since.
After 5 months of dating, Conrad proposed after asking her father for her hand in marriage. They were married on
February 25th, 1951. They raised their 4 children and made lots of loving memories while still living in Rosedale.
At the early age of 18, Conrad started his own trucking company, before his time in the service. He volunteered and would be an essential part of the Rosedale Volunteer Ambulance Corp, as well as an ‘Uncle’ to many of the neighborhood kids.
As well as his love for driving a truck, he had a love of traveling, woodworking, candy, wine, and sweets. One of his most prized possessions was his trailer upstate and his numerous apple trees. He also loved his Ford Broncos, Heinekens, and Mateus Rosé. Growing up in his families bungalow in Bellmore was also one of his favorite places and a source to many of his stories. He would talk to anyone who would listen and was always most proud of his family.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, and burial on Friday. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation
in his memory to the Hospice which was taking care of him in his final days, MJHS. The link is provided on the bottom of
the main page. Envelopes will also be provided the day and night of the services.
