Colin Aubrey Emmanuel Wakson was born to Johanna "Iris" Leticia Watson (nee Carter) and Albert "Bertie" Ernest Watson on December 10, 1955. Brother of the late Albert Watson of Graham's Bakery, Guyana, Ronald Watson, and Hamilton (Neil) Watson.

Colin was the last son and the 8th of 9 children. Colin grew up in Charleston, Georgetown, Guyana with his siblings and several cousins from a large extended family.

Colin attended St. Stephen's Scots school as a child, and then South Georgetown Government Secondary School.

As a teen, he was an avid bicyclist who won several cycling competitions and later became a professional cyclist and gained recognition in Guyana and other countries.

When Colin migrated to the United States, he continued cycling, often riding from Riverhead, Long Island to Brooklyn, and from Brooklyn to Bear Mountain. He was a member of the Kissina Cycling Club.

As a young adult, Colin was interested in music and always had a music system. Another interest was woodworking which he learnt from his cousin Charles Blyth in Guyana. He later went onto trade school for woodworking and sharpened this skill. These two passions would later define his future.

On June 6, 1976, Colin joined the military- Guyana Defense Force ("GDF") and eventually attained the rank of Private. Prior to commencing his military service in March 1980, Colin had completed 8 years in the army reserves.

Colin migrated with his family to Brooklyn, New York in 1980, and returned to Guyana to marry his childhood sweetheart Joycelyn Wright on June 3rd, 1982. They remained united in marriage for 44 years.

Colin continued his passion for cabinet making and expanded his skills to general contractor. Colin worked on several homes in New York and many other States, and for many relatives who can today point to at least one piece of furniture or construction that Colin worked on.

In addition to family, Colin plied his trade far and wide even having opportunity to work for Wesley Snipes and Spike Lee.

When Colin was not doing wood-working he could be found on the music scene playing at numerous weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and parties.

Colin's deep love for music resulted in him becoming an outstanding and well-known deejay ("DJ"). Colin was musically gifted and he was able to tune by ear the most sophisticated sound systems. He could detect when the slightest sound was off and knew how to correct it with precision.

Colin was popular for the West Indian Day parade on Eastern Parkway where his sound system was the best with its distinctive sound which was heard on the various trucks along the parkway.

Colin's legacy is truly in the lives of those that he touched both friends and family. Colin was not traditional, he loved his kangol hat, and he was definitely not stuffy. He was young at heart with a humorous personality - full of jokes.

Colin had a genuine interest in others and he connected well with the younger generation. Many clamored to musically collaborate with him and to be mentored by him. He was a father figure to several of his nieces, nephews, and younger cousins in particular lan Clarke, Titian Watson, and Collard Newland whom he mentored.

To know Colin was to love him. Colin was very argumentative who kept up with current events and could argue any subject. A relatively easy-going man with a sharp wit, a jokester, a happy man who was generous with his time and money.

Left to mourn his passing is his beloved wife Joycelyn Watson, sisters Joyce Watson, Hazel Clarke, Rosamund Watson, Corinne Adams, and his brother Ernest Watson. A host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, extended family including the Watson's, Spencer's, Carter's, Souvenir's, and many others.

Not forgetting, Colin's many friends including Hugh Pickering, Danny Chee, David Verwayne, Lenox Mars, Aubrey Otto, Noel George, Leon Meertens to name a few.
