It is with a heavy heart that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Carl J. Riccobono Sr., who left us on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born on August 10, 1943, in The Bronx, NY, to Antonino and Constance (Sajeva) Riccobono, and later, with his older brother, Thomas, they all moved to Valley Stream. It was here that he met the love of his life, his beloved wife Marianne (Wallace), while teaching at Shaw Ave Elementary School. For an incredible 56 years, he was a devoted and loving husband to Marianne, embodying a steadfast presence and a wellspring of affection and support. Together, they created a wonderful family of seven children: Christine (Christopher), Denise (Amy), Jennifer (Bruce), Carl Jr. (Christina), Patricia, Daniel (Samantha), and Laura. He took immense pride in being a devoted and affectionate grandfather, lovingly known as "Poppy" to his 11 cherished grandchildren.
Carl will always be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, his dedicated 43 years as an educator at Shaw Ave, and the countless joyful moments spent with family and friends at the Valley Stream pool.
Carl and Marianne might have had seven children, but they embraced everyone with open hearts, open arms, and a welcoming, revolving door.
Carl also leaves behind his dear brother, Thomas, along with two beloved brothers-in-law, two cherished sisters-in-law, and a wonderful array of treasured nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom carry his spirit forward.
His absence will leave a void in the hearts of many.
