Bruce Abbate Obituary

Bruce Charles Abbate was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 30, 1942, to Dominic and Catherine Abbate. Bruce’s loving brother is Charles Abbate.
Bruce was an avid baseball player in his youth, attended college locally, worked in construction and settled in Nassau County as a young man.
Bruce married the first love of his life, Mary Ann Cottone, in 1963. They raised three daughters, Patricia, Christine and Deborah, in Valley Stream. Bruce was the proprietor of Vincent’s Stationery & Printing Co., in Valley Stream, alongside Charles for many years, and later with Mary Ann, until her untimely death in 1997. Bruce and Mary Ann were excellent, loving parents, providing a wonderful home life for their daughters.
Bruce was a loving brother-in-law to Jackie and Frank Bromberg, and “extra dad” (also known as “UB”) to their sons, Robert, Steven, James, and Michael, and their families.
Bruce married the second love of his life, Lois Patranzino, in 1999. Bruce embraced Lois’ daughters, Luanne, Karolann and Deborah, as his own.

Bruce was also a loving father-in-law to David, Sal, Joe, Dean, Alex and Tom.

Together, Bruce and Lois enjoyed spending time in various locales with all their daughters and 13 grandchildren: Jessica, Dylan and Tyler Bukstel; Dante and Marco Interlandi; Nicholas, Anthony and Lauren Cascio; Toni and Blake Borg; and James, Logan and Isabella Rubin. Bruce was an attentive grandfather to all his grandchildren and loved watching them play sports and celebrate milestones.
Bruce was an avid sport fisherman, and loved all things related to boating: cruising with family and friends, puttering around his boats and repairs. He was the proud owner of “Paper Clip“ with Mary Ann and “Crazy Lady” with Lois. He enjoyed many years and great fun and peace of mind on his favorite waterways, fishing, relaxing and just breathing salt air.
Bruce remained in the office products industry, working part time into his 70s. He had a huge base of friends, relationships nurtured over a lifetime of living in two states, business networks in the LI community, such as various Chambers of Commerce and the Lions Club, as well as two local yacht clubs.
Bruce, “Bru,” “Daddy,” Grandpa, UB: he will be missed more than words can express. Memories of Bruce and the legacy of love he left behind will be cherished forever.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
