Anthony S. DiPaola, a long-time resident of Lynbrook, N.Y. died on April 12, 2023 at the age of 90 years old.
He is survived by his son, Anthony DiPaola, Jr, his daughter Karen Caya and his sister, Susan Williams and sister-in-law, Mary DiPaola. He is predeceased by his father, Daniel DiPaola and his mother, Beatrice Lauria, his brothers, Frederic DiPaola and Daniel DiPaola, Jr.
Anthony (aka “Tony”) was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 19, 1932. He lived in Canarsie during his childhood years and went on to study at Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey and later attended college at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y.
Tony married his wife Jean at young age in Olean. He had five children with Jean; Daniel, Anthony, Kathy, Karen and Michael. Sadly, Daniel, Kathy and Michael passed away earlier this year.
Tony also lived in California and went on to remarry twice more. Then, he met the love of his life, Phyliss Schiavo and after offering her not one but “two hands in marriage”, they wed in 1972. They were married for 38 wonderful years.
Tony moved to Florida in 2017. He was a self-made man, (considered himself a “goodfella”), an avid reader and a problem-solver. He enjoyed meeting people and would always go above and beyond to help others. He took an interest in people. He enjoyed working on difficult projects around the house. He was quite the craftsman on many home-improvement projects! He was a Godly man with unrelenting spiritual faith and ambition.
Tony was a wonderful uncle (“Big Unc” or “Uncie” to those that knew him best). He was an adoring brother and an outstanding friend.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
