Anne Stoffa was born Anne Surotchak on December 19, 1930 in Hazelton, PA. She grew up in Coaldale and Lansford, PA. A graduate of Lansford High School’s Class of 1948, she went on to become an Operating Room Nurse at Temple, in Philadelphia. She met and eventually married Michael Stoffa, of Astoria, NY, on August 17, 1963. The newlyweds moved to Astoria, and Anne continued her employment as a nurse at Astoria General Hospital until the birth of their son, Douglas. They moved to Valley Stream, NY in 1971, where Anne hung up her stethoscope and became a full-time mother and housewife. During this time she participated on Clear Stream Avenue School’s PTA Bowling Team, with her team coming in first place once, and second place twice. Anne donated her spare time knitting and sewing nick-knacks for the less fortunate, and was an assistant minister at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Valley Stream until its closure. She returned to the workforce in 1988 as an Operating Room Nurse at Franklin General Hospital until her retirement.
She was an avid fan of the New York Mets and New York Islanders, and enjoyed watching / attending all types of sporting events. She enjoyed cross-word puzzles, game shows, old movies, and the music of the Eagles, Abba, and the Carpenters.
