Alfonso N. Figliolia

Alfonso “Al” Figliolia passed away peacefully at his home in Lawrence, NY on Sunday, January
5th , 2025, he was 85 years old.
Al was a loving husband to his wife, Nora (deceased) and is survived by his brothers, John and
Alex, his sister Josephine, stepson Andy and daughter-in-law Geraldine, grandchildren John,
Hayden and Romy.
He was born on July 6th, 1939 to George and Angela Figliolia. Al served in the United States
Armed Forces Reserves during the 1960’s and, upon completion of his service, entered his
family’s business of commercial plumbing, as a Master Plumber. In the 1980’s Al shifted his
focus into real estate development and founded, owned and operated a successful real estate
investment, development and management company, which he later sold.
Al and his wife, Nora, had a passion for horses and founded Westbury Stables in 2002. Based
in Ocala, Fl, Al steered the growth of Westbury Stables from a small 50 acre farm to an over
250 acre, first class thoroughbred breeding facility. Westbury Stables soon made headlines as
the breeders of Dennis of Cork, who placed 3rd in the 2008 Kentucky Derby and 2nd in the
2008 Belmont Stakes.
Al enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including boating, golf, and tennis. He loved the
outdoors and was an avid fisherman, skilled hunter and marksman.
His children and grandchildren remember him as a loving, involved, dedicated and supportive
father and grandfather who cherished his time spent with family and friends.
Al’s family and friends will remember his sharp mind, joking personality, vivid storytelling and the
many life lessons he has imparted on us all. His memory will live on with us throughout the
years to come.
