RAMIREZ, Marylin Susan – At 82 years old, passed with peace and grace on December 30, with her family at her side. Predeceased by her loving husband, Daniel James, in 2008. Survived by son Danny (Neli) of Charlottesville, daughter Linda (Jeffrey) Baxter of Valley Stream, and MaryAnn (Richard) Geraghty of Valley Stream; grandchildren: Jonathan (Lauren) Baxter, Jennifer (Nicholas) O’Connell, and Alexander Ramirez.
Marylin was born in Manhattan in 1936 and survived her parents and five siblings. After marrying Daniel in 1955, she devoted herself to raising their children in a loving home. They began their lives together in Brooklyn Heights, moved to Springfield Gardens, Queens in 1963, and finally to Valley Stream in 1968. One summer, she and her husband pedaled bicycles all the way to Montauk Point, and they always maintained a beautiful garden at home. After Daniel retired, they traveled to Florida, Puerto Rico, and England. She became President of the Green Acres Senior Center and was named Senior of the Year in 2014 for her service to the community. She enjoyed singing with a group that was coached by Vicki Mills (of Name That Tune fame). She was an expert in historical trivia, especially as it related to classic films and popular music. She will be always remembered as a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest passion was spending time with her family.
A service will be held at Holy Name of Mary R C Church, 55 East Jamaica Avenue in Valley Stream, NY on Friday, January 25 at 10:45 AM. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale will coincide with her 64th wedding anniversary. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days. If you wish, donations may be made to Holy Name of Mary School, 90 S. Grove St. Valley Stream, NY 11580, or the charity of your choice.
A loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she leaves us rich in memories and well prepared to carry her example of dedication and love forward to future generations.
