Francisco A. Knipping-Diaz
(October 15, 1953 – August 17, 2019)
Francisco Knipping-Diaz, affectionately known as “Frank”, of Woodmere, NY, passed away, August 17, 2019
at the age of 65.
Frank came to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic at the age of 14. He studied Psychology and Special Education at Queens College where he earned a BA degree. In his 40s he studied law at Touro College, passed the New York State Bar Exam and became a Criminal Defense attorney. He opened his practice in uptown Manhattan, in the heart of the Dominican community that he serviced and loved. He was a prominent lawyer in over his 20 years of practicing. He was well known and liked throughout the courts.
If you were to ask Frank what was his favorite past-time, his immediate answer would be flying. He had a very adventurous spirit. Frank often took family and friends flying…just because. He would call or text and say, “You want to go flying?”
Anyone who came in contact with Frank was immediately drawn to his wit, sarcasm, charisma, jokes and especially his love to barbecue. The man barbecued in the rain, holding an umbrella!
Loving husband, father, brother, son, cousin, uncle, lawyer, pilot, and friend…whichever hat Frank wore, he wore it well.
You will be so profoundly missed by all.
Fly precious soul, the sky is all yours now.
Frank is survived by his wife Diana, his daughter Diana, his son Armando and his beloved dog, Miranda.
